The slug feeder belongs to the category of Handling Feeding Systems. It is a vertical loading and feeding unit, installed between the outfeed end of a production line and the packaging / flowpack machine.
The Slug feeder automatically creates portions of products on edge. These slugs are then automatically transferred to the flighted conveyor via a 90° Tranfer Unit. The slug feeders may have from 2 up to 16 channels, depending on the number of lanes of the incoming product and their speed. The Units may also be used to place products into trays.
